Moore College rejoices in Kevin Vanhoozer’s publication of his book based on the material he presented at the Annual Moore College Lectures 2015. The publication is: Biblical Authority after Babel: Retrieving the Solas in the Spirit of Mere Protestant Christianity. The Moore lecture series was entitled: Mere Protestant Christianity: How Singing sola Renews Biblical Interpretation (and Theology).
Kevin is a well-respected and renowned evangelical figure and his book has received great reviews. We congratulate Kevin on his book and are thankful that it began as the 2015 Annual Moore College lectures.
This volume is the latest in publications that have grown out of The Annual Moore College lecture series. For over 30 years, many of these lecture series have subsequently been published. Guests at Moore College’s lectures have included theologians from the United Kingdom and the United States, including J.I. Packer, F.F. Bruce, D.A. Carson, Kenneth Kantzer, Henri Blocher, M.J. Ovey, Ashley Null, Chris Green, and Mike Horton.
Kevin wrote a fantastic forward in his book thanking the principals and faculty members of Moore College, past and present. It is included here in full:
“I am most grateful to the Rev. Dr. Mark Thompson, principal of Moore College, for the invitation to deliver the lectures, and to his family for their gracious hospitality (which included a memorable Sydney harbor ferry trip) during my stay. I wish, finally, to thank the several faculty members and their families who invited me to dinner, and the students who submitted written questions after each lecture. In ways that I had not anticipated, the writings of several Moore College folk, in particular Graeme Goldsworthy, Peter O’Brien. David Broughton Knox, Peter Jensen, John William Woodhouse and Mark Thompson – had a disproportionate influence on my preparation for the lectures. It is therefore only appropriate that I have dedicated this published version to the Principals and faculty members of Moore College, past and present.”
